From a standing start in 2023, Ludlow Piano Festival has grown into one of the country’s premier music festivals – something we’re immensely proud of. In just a few years, we’ve brought world-class pianists to Ludlow, created unforgettable musical experiences and established a festival that attracts audiences from near and far. And we’re ambitious to do even more!
Our festival is about much more than concerts. Our much-loved Street Piano brings music into the heart of Ludlow for everyone to enjoy, while our Schools Piano Concert gives young people the opportunity to experience the excitement and inspiration of live music. These are important parts of what we do, and we’re passionate about keeping them going.
We’re able to achieve so much because we’re a small, dedicated team of volunteer Directors who receive no salaries, keep our overheads remarkably low and put enormous energy into making the festival happen.
But even with the tremendous generosity of our artists, staging a festival comes with considerable costs. Venues, piano hire and tuning, accommodation, travel, performance rights and all the practical arrangements behind the scenes add up. Our free community activities also have costs, even though they generate no ticket income.
Ticket sales are currently our only regular source of income, and we want to build a broader base of support that will help us continue to develop the festival with confidence. As a Community Interest Company, we’re not eligible for many of the grants available to registered charities, so the generosity of our audiences and supporters can play a particularly valuable part in our future.
We’re determined to keep our concerts accessible to everyone. Although we’ll need to make a modest increase to ticket prices in 2027 – our first in two years – we remain passionate about ensuring that great music is within reach of as many people as possible. That’s where you can make a difference.
