Fifteen years old. Diminutive. Extraordinary. Elisey Mysin is the very definition of a child prodigy. He has already worked as a soloist with many leading orchestras including the Greek National Radio and Television Orchestra, and The Russian National Symphony Orchestra.

At his concert in Walcott Hall last winter, he received three standing ovations and three encores. The audience couldn’t believe their eyes. Or their ears. We are delighted to have him in Ludlow. Once you’ve heard him play, Greig and Tchaikovsky, you’ll want to hear more. So, we are bringing him back for his encore tomorrow!

TOCCATA IN A MAJOR, ZD.229
HENRY PURCELL (1659–1695)

The piece is attributed to Purcell who was organist at the Chapel Royal and at Westminster Abbey. He was one of England’s greatest Baroque composers, known for his innovative keyboard works.

PIANO SONATA IN E MINOR, OP.7 (1865)
EDVARD GRIEG (1843-1907)

Composed when Grieg was just 22, this is his only piano sonata. It blends classical form with the distinctive rhythms and melodies of Norwegian folk music in its four movements and reflects Grieg’s youthful exuberance and his ambition to bring Norwegian music to a wider audience.

FIVE PIECES FROM OP.72 (1893)
PYOTR ILYCH TCHAIKOVSKY (1840-1893)

Tchaikovsky’s Op.72, titled “Eighteen Pieces for Piano”, is his final work for solo piano. Impromptu opens the collection with energy, followed by the gentle and soothing Berceuse, Dance Caracteristique (which is reminiscent of ballet music)., Un poco du Chopin (a tribute to the Polish composer) and Invitation au Trepak (inspired by Russian folk dance).
